ICOR Installs Eco Friendly Lighting System
Indianapolis, IN
ICOR International continues to pursue new methods to conserve energy and reduce the company's environmental impact. The most recent effort is in the warehouse portion of ICOR’s Indianapolis facility. Light fixtures and motion sensors have been installed throughout the production and warehouse area. The result is saving the company in energy consumption cost and reducing waste.
The lighting system is among several attempts to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. A recycling program has been adopted by ICOR employees. All recyclable materials are being collected including glass, plastics, paper and aluminum. Each employee had the opportunity to sign an Environmental Pledge, promising to become a better environmental steward.
ICOR also has a refrigerant recycling program, “Refri-Claim™,” designed to make it easy for HVAC/R technicians to recycle or safely dispose of residual refrigerant and cylinders. The program reduces the amount of cylinders thrown into landfills, which releases ozone depleting substances known as hydrochlorofluorocarbons.
ICOR’s new lighting system is one of many efforts by the company to not only produce refrigerants that are safer for the environment, but also to reduce the amount of carbon released during the manufacturing process. The results of the new eco friendly lighting system are astounding. The table below shows a summary of the environmental impact the system will have annually and over the course of 20 years:
